In the mid 1990's, On the back roads of Parker County off the banks of Woody Creek and underneath the shade of centuries old oak trees, Jimmy Neeley, Sr. and his wife Mary opened up for a quick run the very first Woody Creek Bar-B-Q.  It was out of the back of an old bread truck with a sliding window to order at, an old coke box, and picnic tables and that's all it took, one Summer,  to get the word out on some of the best tasting "Q" around.

Only one problem, those trees didn't keep the cold and wet Texas Winter away, so the seasonal, outdoor restaurant was put on the back burner.  Several years later one night after a few margaritas on the patio at Joe T. Garcia's, that dream came back alive.

The next day "Sr." had keys to the now Woody Creek Bar-B-Q on the square in Springtown that opened in March of 2005.  A year after opening, Jimmy Neeley, Jr., a banker at the time, took his tie off and put an apron on to help the 'Ol Pops out.  He partnered up and in a short time learned all that Sr. taught him about smoking meat and all the recipes.

As Woody Creek's business took off, Sr's health took a turn for the worst and in September of 2007, Jimmy Sr. passed away and a legacy began.  Now, with a second location open in Ft Worth, the hickory smoke is flowing more than ever, the brisket and ribs are just as tender as they were under those oak trees, and Jimmy Neeley, Sr's dream is still alive.
